The NRL’s never-ending contract circus will keep on going throughout the off-season with deals for 2023 and 2024 and beyond being hashed out.
Now that the November 1 deadline has passed, NRL rules dictate that players off contract next year can be tabled offers from rivals, leaving clubs desperate to tie down talent.
Sharks stalwart Wade Graham will extend his NRL career into a 16th season after finalising a one-year extension.
The 31-year-old second-rower has spent the past 12 years at Cronulla after starting with Penrith and the 277-gamer is a chance to break into the NRL’s 300 Club next year.
“I’m really proud and grateful to have the opportunity to play on for another year here at the Sharks,” the Cronulla captain said. “I’m looking forward to getting back, ripping in to another pre-season and helping the squad to improve on the progress we’ve made as a club last year”.
Zac Fulton, the grandson of late Sea Eagles icon Bob Fulton, has inked a new two-year deal at Manly, just weeks after his aunty Kristie Fulton was controversially sacked by the NRL club in her role as elite pathways manager.
The young forward made a famous debut for the Sea Eagles earlier this year as one of the feel-good stories of the Pride Jersey saga. In doing so, he became the third generation Fulton to play for the club after Immortal Bob, as well as father Scott and his uncle Brett.
“Zac fully deserves this contract and we look forward to seeing him take his opportunities in first grade next year,’” Manly CEO Tony Mestrov said.
“He is a very good edge runner with a high work ethic. His toughness and aggressive style of play are certainly not lost on his teammates.”
Mestrov claimed earlier in the week that it showed players were happy with the new direction of the club, with Anthony Seibold poised to soon be announced as coach following Des Hasler’s ugly early exit.
Fulton’s teammate Reuben Garrick has also committed to staying with the club, knocking back the chance to play fullback at the Knights and signing an extension to remain at Brookvale until the end of 2027.
Garrick expressed he no longer wanted to play on the wing and filled in at fullback while Tom Trbojevic was injured during the 2022 season. With Trbojevic remaining the top choice for the number one jersey, Manly have offered Garrick a left-centre role, likely to partner Tolutau Koula.

“The fact is that Reuben is an important player for the future,” said Mestrov. “He was one of the best performers last year and we’ve decided to see what he can do in the centres.
“He gets the opportunity over the next four years. Culturally he is very important to the club and is a real leader.”
Oliver Gildart has completed his long-expected move to the Dolphins, just a week after being granted an early release from the Wests Tigers.
He had finished the season on loan at the Sydney Roosters, on loan from the Tigers, and had been linked with a move to Redcliffe for several months due to his links with Wayne Bennett, his previous coach at Great Britain.
Newcastle playmaker Jake Clifford has become the first signing for new Hull FC coach Tony Smith, after joining the Super League club on a two-year deal.
Clifford, played 67 NRL games for North Queensland and Newcastle, and will now head across to England along with Knights teammate Tex Hoy at Hull.
Titans young gun Jojo Fifita has signed an extension that will see him remain a Gold Coast Titan until 2025. Fifita impressed many early in the year while playing for the Tweed Seagulls and continued his fine form after making his NRL debut in round 18 against the Broncos.
Tino Fa’asuamaleaui will have brother Iszac joining him in the top squad soon with the youngster remaining at the Titans as a development player in 2023, before moving into the club’s top 30 contracted list for 2024 and 2025.
