Lakers, LeBron James have ‘productive’ talks about extension

4-time MVP LeBron James will head into the 2022-23 NBA year on the last 12 months of a two-12 months, $85.6M agreement with the Los Angeles Lakers. 

In accordance to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, James and his agent Wealthy Paul experienced “effective” talks with Lakers common manager Rob Pelinka on Thursday surrounding a feasible contract extension for the 18-time All-Star. 

Throughout the 2021-22 period, James hinted at a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2023, stating, ‘the door’s not close on that.’ A brief time afterwards, LeBron backtracked from those people statements, boasting he noticed himself donning the Lakers’ purple and gold for ‘as very long as I can participate in.’ 

Further more complicating matters, James has voiced his desire to perform with his son, Bronny James. In February, James informed The Athletic’s Jason Lloyd that he’d do ‘whatever’ it usually takes to make that aspiration a truth, and that money would not be a factor. Bronny, 17, is not going to be draft eligible right until at the very least 2024.
