Africa Senior Athletics 10,000m runner Purity Komen and Bravin Kiprop were being the crowned the champions of the 2nd version of Kapsowar Charity Conservation 10km Highway Race held these days in Kapsowar, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Competing in her 1st race just after competing at the Africa Athletics championships in Reduit, Mauritius, Komen won the women’s title right after braving the early morning warm solar, surging the hilly system to gain the 10km race.
Introducing herself in highway jogging, Komen took the guide right after 5km to earn the race in 32:35.84 for the title beating upstart Naomi Jebet to second in 33:12.41 and Zenah Jeptoo completing the podium timing 33:14.17.
“This is my to start with race soon after Africa championships and it was just one of the most tricky race, bearing in mind the hilly, sharp corners and steep slopes. But with all such issues, I managed to acquire the race,” she mentioned.
