Croton Watch is not your run of the mill company. I think that understated might be an overstatement. Loads of celebrities are staunch supporters, and avid wearers. Why? Croton was named after the famous city in Italy. A neighbor to Switzerland, the home of the world’s most prestigious watches, Croton melded Swiss ingenuity with Italian high fashion. The company began in 1878. as a family owned concern, that focused on wowing their customers.
Just under one hundred and twenty years later, Croton was taken over by a family owned company named National Time, that sought to step up their game in merchandising. The Mermelstein family loved the customer centric company that, like itself, was family owned, so they invested in the development of what is today a stunning success.

An unusual marketing choice is that Croton watches do not have names. The models are identified by number, so if you are a fan of CN207047YLMP in men’s dress, you really have to know your timepiece. Is this a strategy? Perhaps. It forces their brand name into the world, more than would be the case with other companies whose favorite models become known independent of the company name, such as the Speedmaster.
Who loves a Croton? There’s a very long list. Josh Grobin, Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Natalie Cole, BeBe Winans, Herbie Hancock and Eriq La Salle love their men’s dress version, Judd Nelson, Kevin Sorbo love a stainless steel band, Miley Cyrus, Blair Underwood, Dave Koz, and Claudia Jordan top the list.
Croton watches are simply put, stunning timepieces and the celebrity backup is not too shabby. Word of mouth can be viral and in the case of a Croton, I am certain that this is certainly a true fringe benefit. It won’t be too long before this special secret among the time loving elite will become the secret that no one could keep!
